Dungeon Crawler Jam 2021: DAY 3

Build v 0.0.1

After the first two days of development Japie uploaded the first rough build of the game for us all to see.

Included in the first build:

  • The dungeon is procedurally generated each time you play so it is always different.
  • Player can no longer move through walls, and the vector space is mapped onto grid space next will create the scripts for the enemies to also track their grid position so that we can enter and exit combat by attempting to walk into an enemy’s grid space.
  • You can battle the green monsters that appear in front of you and they have a “live” and “dead” state which show different models.
  • You can move around and do the battle quicktime with WASD or the arrow keys and if you press Y it triggers the placeholder dialogue.
  • The music sounds awesome and loops like a boss!

Development

Japie and Leanri decided to pull in some cartoon-ey mobs from the asset store to give them something to work with, and that way Lance can focus on portraits rather than animations. They also found some textures and assets for the start screen and menus. Leanri also started working on how to add Lance’s portraits onto a board game piece for the enemies.

Music

Luke created a dungeon exploration tune. Japie ensured that it looped correctly.

Please note that all of the above images and music may not be used for any other purpose than for this project or what their creators want to use them for.
